Stichting Muziektheaterstuk Cuypers

Pierre Cuypers of Roermond, the greatest Dutch architect of the 19th century, died 100 years ago. He designed iconic buildings such as the Rijksmuseum and Centraal Station (Amsterdam) and Kasteel de Haar (Haarzuilens). He laid the foundations for the restoration of monuments. He was a networker with contacts throughout Europe. He used the high tech of his day and worked like a property developer. He fought against the marginalisation of Catholics. And he was a vegetarian. Muziektheater Cuypers brings Pierre Cuypers the man to life. How did a boy from the small town of Roermond develop into a European artist? Where did his enormous creative power come from? What drove him?
