Desaer
Legacy migration of a multilingual B2B web shop: from CakePHP 2 to Laravel 12 with Filament, including a photo ceramic configurator and full data migration.
Desaer supplies grave monument accessories to professional customers in several countries. Their web shop ran on CakePHP 2, a framework that has not received updates for years. We are migrating the platform to a modern stack: Laravel 12, Filament as the admin panel, Livewire and Tailwind, tested with Pest.
The closed B2B shop runs in four languages (NL/DE/FR/EN) and includes a photo ceramic wizard that lets customers compose a memorial product step by step, with a link to ColorLab for production. For foreign business customers the shop handles the VAT reverse charge with automatic VIES validation of VAT numbers.
The challenge
Moving a live web shop with years of orders, customers and product data from an extinct framework to a modern foundation, without customers noticing and without losing functionality.
Our approach
We are rebuilding the shop feature by feature on Laravel 12 with Filament, migrating all data along in a controlled way: products, customers, orders and the multilingual content via Spatie Translatable. The photo ceramic wizard and the ColorLab integration get a modern refresh in the process.
The result
A future-proof, tested codebase that will last for years, with an admin panel where the team maintains products, prices and translations themselves. No licence dependency, no outdated technology.
